About

Michel Vanhomwegen began practicing martial arts in Brussels, in the dojo of Master André Jean, a direct student of Sensei Tadashi Abe and Sensei Murashige. He first started with judo in 1964, followed by Aikido, Kendo, and Iaido (Katori) in 1966, and Shotokan karate in 1968.

At the request of his teacher, he was mandated to introduce Ko-Budo in Belgium in 1974.

He lived for two years in the Ignoramus macrobiotic center in Belgium, within the ZEN community, where he simultaneously pursued his studies as a dental technician and his martial arts training. During this period, he met R. Yasuhara and K. Yoshimitsu, both childhood friends of Sensei Tamura; all were students of Yakikazu Sakurasawa (Georges Oshawa).

After the passing of Master André Jean, Michel founded the Cultural Association of Budo and Ko-Budo, followed by the Murashigeryu Budo.
